A Self-Driving Car Unveiled By FORD.

Ford has developed a prototype vehicle known as the Automated Fusion Hybrid Research. This vehicle doesn’t just provide you with cruise control. It has the ability to regulate and maintain its speed on its own; and may even stop when you are moving too quickly to an object. It can also steer back into its lane if a driver lets it drift and parallel park automatically. To accomplish all these, this self-driving car has four infrared devices mounted on it. The devices use Light Detection And Ranging (LiDAR) technology to scan the surrounding environment at the rate of 2.5 million times per second and as far as 200 feet. And data collected is then interpreted into a 3D image of things happening around the vehicle.

From the way I see it and I believe you concur, this vehicle will relieve one from the stress of driving himself on a long distance trip.

Samsung Launches Smartphone GamePad.

Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd introduced, on December 17, the Smartphone GamePad and Mobile Console app to enhance the gaming experience on its popular line of Galaxy devices. The gamepad “instantly transforms a Galaxy smartphone or tablet into a portable gaming console or even a home console”.

Smartphone GamePad can be attached to mobile devices ranging from 4-inches to 6.3-inches and connects to the device through Bluetooth pairing; or via NFC tag. The gamepad, along with its Mobile Console app, is compatible with Samsung devices that run Android OS 4.1 but is optimised for the ones with Android 4.3 and more. It features a D-pad (8 way), two analog sticks, four actions buttons and two trigger buttons; and is powered by a 160mA rechargeable battery.

Ekeonunwa Market --- Is This a Dumpsite or Market?

A few days ago, I went to Ekeonunwa market to buy a few stuffs and I was shocked by what I saw inside there. I know that most markets around here are usually filthy, but this one was too much --- a large dump truck that was literally overflowing with garbage seated in the midst of the traders. It was as if the garbage was among the goods on display. What was most disgusting was that some of these traders were even leaning on the truck. And as you can imagine, the whole place stank like what-I-can’t-say.

Later, I discovered that there were more of those trucks, also filled to the brim, inside this market.

iPad Air now Officially Available in Nigeria.

Apple’s iPad Air has finally debuted in Nigeria through the company’s official representatives, Core Group Africa. Core Africa says that the product has already started selling in designated authorized Apple shops in Lagos and around Nigeria.

As reported on Vanguard News, “Core Group Africa’s Director --- Rutger-Jan van Spaandonk, said that his company has appointed Apple Authorised Resellers to sell iPad Air to ensure the product is available through official channel partners. This means that customers will have peace of mind [and] that if repair issues arise during the warranty term, their product will be repaired or replaced by an Apple Authorised Repair Centre and that they will have access to the required level of support that is mandatory for Apple Authorised Resellers”.

Woman Drowns Her Baby for Being "Incompatible" with Her Love Life.

A French mother named Fabienne Kabua has confessed to drowning her 15-months-old daughter in the English Channel. Ms Kabou, who now faces life imprisonment, told the police on Saturday that she committed the dastardly act after deciding that "motherhood was 'incompatible' with her love life with her daughter's father".

The woman is said to have checked into a hotel in Berck sur Mer with her baby, Adelaide, on November 19; and CCTV footage shows her pushing her daughter in a pram to the coast of Berck sur Mer on that same day. , "The next day, baby Adelaide was found dead, strapped in a pushchair submerged in the river, by a fisherman".

The police, after a 10-days nationwide search, were able to track down the mother using DNA found on the pram.

How to Create a Widget for Social Media Icons on Blogger.

Setting up a widget for social media iconsis one of the earliest things that come to mind when creating a new blog; and sometimes how to get suitable icons and writing the right HTML/JavaScript codes may be a problem. In this article, I’ll show you the various ways --- which I grouped into MANUAL and ASSISTED, of putting these icons on your blog.

METHOD I: Manual Method.

1.  Get Social Icons:

• Go to www.iconfinder.comand download icons. There may be other sites that provide free social icons; but on the aforementioned website, you’ll find icons of assorted shapes and designs --- some of them are paid while many others are free and come with creative common licence.

• All you have to do is select the icon of your choice and download it in .png or .jpeg format but not in .ico format as Blogger doesn’t support .ico images.

2. Upload The Icons to your Blog:

•  Go to Blogger Dashboard > New Post and upload the icons.{Using mine as an example}:

• Right click on each of the uploaded icons and copy the “image URL”.
• Paste these URLs separately on a notepad.

3.  Create the Widget:

• Open a new Tab on your browser.
• Go to Blogger Dashboard > Layout > Add a Gadget > HTML/JavaScript.
• Copy the following codes and paste them in the HTML/JavaScript gadget. {Please Note: Generally, the codes used for a single icon are: <a href="Target URL"><img src="Image URL" width="50" height="50" /></a>. But when there is more than one icon, the codes become a bit less simple}.

• You can give the widget a title, if you like.
• Then, click on SAVE.
• Go to LAYOUT and move the widget to where you want it to appear on your blog.
• Save this arrangement by clicking “Save arrangement”.

• You can now view your blog to see your handiwork.

METHOD II: Assisted Method.

• Go to https://www.addthis.com/get/follow. If you are not already logged in, log in with your Facebook, Twitter or Gmail account.
• When you are logged in, you may be surprised to see that there is no option for Blogger platform. But this is not a problem, just select “A Website”. The code that will be generated can be used on Blogger.

• Insert the required usernames in fields provided. A preview is provided on the right-hand section of the webpage.

• Customize the appearance of the selected icons by defining the “Header” and “Design”.
• JavaScript is then generated on a panel below the preview. Click on “Grab It” to copy it.
• Go to Blogger Dashboard > Layout > Add a Gadget > HTML/JavaScript and paste the code you copied.
• Click on SAVE. Move this widget to where you want it to be and save the arrangement.
